Happy Canadian Thanksgiving!! A Fall Table and Family Photos
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving everyone!
Today is a holiday here in Canada and we get to enjoy a day off from our regularly scheduled programming. Last night we had a big family Thanksgiving dinner here with sixteen bodies, large and small. It was a gorgeous, warm, sunny day so we decided to set up our Thanksgiving table outside on the deck (we got to do this last year as well!)
I’m pretty thrilled about that green pumpkin… it is made of little thin pieces of wood rolled up and would be a gorgeous DIY project. But I got it on Clearance on Friday at Homesense ($15… I think that is a steal!). Super creative!
Unfortunately it started to cool down significantly before it was time to actually eat and on account of our 91 year old Great Grandpa we decided to move things inside…. (last year it was so warm we actually got to eat outdoors!!) I think that the nicest part of the evening was when my five year old insisted that we each go around the table sharing what we are thankful for… he chose “life, God, and my family”. That about sums it up:)
We were also so grateful that our brother-in-law came over with his amazing camera and fabulous photography skills and took some lovely family pictures for us…(as well as some of those table shots). I so want a great camera!!
Yes I realize that my youngest has his tongue out… but this was still the best family shot we could get… the “shoot” didn’t last very long because our oldest wasn’t a big fan of the sweater that Mom made them wear (I have been holding onto these sweaters for years waiting for them to be old enough to wear them in a matching picture…lol. I swear I will get one more photo shoot out of them for Christmas).
No tongue this time…but maybe not quite as cute without it??
I was trying to get a better profile picture taken and Leif decided he needed to join the picture… much happier without the gorgeous cozy sweater…
But I sure appreciate my brother-in-law trying to get a decent picture of me. I am not the most photogenic person around… I definitely prefer to be behind the camera.
And after the “shoot”…
This was our first real family picture since our three year old has been around… isn’t that terrible!! Do you have any great tips for getting kids to participate in a “photo shoot”??

Thank you so much Rachel!!
Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous Krista! That green pumpkin is fabulous! What a beautiful centerpiece, I love how it came together in that beautiful spot, what a view! I am so sorry you couldn’t actually dine outside, but your photos are stunning. The cuties in the matching sweaters, oh goodness, you are blessed with such and adorable family, thanks for sharing!
Jenna
Hi Jenna!! The matching sweaters lasted for all of ten minutes… my oldest son couldn’t stand his. Too bad, it is such a cute sweater. I guess I could resort to bribery to get him to wear it again but I doubt that even that would work. Thanks for your super sweet comments, totally made my day!!
Love the table and your green pumpkin bargain is awesome! 🙂 Your family photos are super sweet…and I hate being in front of the camera too! I never like pictures of myself either, but yours came out lovely! 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
I was pretty ridiculously thrilled about that green pumpkin bargain. lol. Thanks so much for your super sweet comments Kim!!
Just beautiful!! And what an amazing view for Thanksgiving dinner! Love your outfit – you’re too cute!
Aw thank you Jenn!! So sweet, that makes my day:) So glad we have Target in Canada now -that is where I got my top and blazer!!
What a gorgeous table and an even more gorgeous family! You guys look great– and the boys’ sweaters are too cute! Happy Thanksgiving, Krista!
~Abby =)
Aw thanks Abby. Too bad they refuse to wear then unless under direct instructions to keep them on for photos. They came flying off immediately after. So sad.
sorry for wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving so late Krista but I’m so happy you had a wonderful time with your family (your Fall table is gorgeous) & so are you with your family; I’m glad you posted these beautiful pictures of your family (it’s nice to see the blogger behind the blog) 🙂

Gorgeous, Krista! The table and your family! You have a beautiful family…your boys are adorable! I had that white blonde hair as a child, so I’m a bit partial to it 🙂 thanks so much for sharing. XO
Thanks Christy! It is crazy how white his hair gets… and you are still blonde so maybe he will stay fair his whole life? Guess only time will tell! Thanks for your kind comments!
Your Thanksgiving table looks beautiful, Krista. I’m from Vancouver Island as well – Sidney. I’m so glad to have found your blog. I’m always so surprised to see so many Canucks in blogland, lol. Have a wonderful Wednesday.

Just beautiful!! I love that green pumpkin, your kiddos are so sweet (even with tongues out), and what a lovely family photo!
LOL Kelly, it is certainly tricky to get a decent family picture. A couple more years maybe??? But I love the honestly of the picks now – that is the reality of those two! Might as well remember it how it really was, because they are pretty fun!
Lovely table setting! Happy Thanksgiving!
Thank you Amanda- hope your Thanksgiving weekend was wonderful:)
Love your pictures!! They came out great. I think the tongue sticking out is perfect 🙂 And your view is ah-mazing!!! Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
Thanks Courtney! I guess we will always remember this family photo shoot with the tongue out:) Lol!

Thanks Tara- I am not normally photogenic in the least but there was good lighting that day:) lol. It was a gorgeous Thanksgiving here, hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving with your family:)
Krista, terrific photos all around. Love the view you have. Oh, that little tongue will be the talk for decades…really cuter as the years pass. Thanks for sharing them….even the ones you didn’t see as great…they are! And the green pumpkin is perfect for your tablescape.
Thank you so much for your super kind words Helen! I think that picture with be a treasure, tongue and all!!
Krista you are indeed photogenic – oh, your glorious red hair 🙂 Gorgeous shots and your table looks so inviting. Beautiful weather too by the looks of it. When my 11 year old was younger (I have to admit he loved posing for photos!), I used to give him things to hold like a fave toy and I used to get some amazing happy and natural shots. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you sooo much for your super kind words Petra!! It was an incredible sunny Thanksgiving – two years in a row we have had gorgeous weather! Great tips about the photos, I obviously need to figure something out!! lol:)
What a cute little family! Your boys are absolutely precious! Love the mischievous little faces 🙂 Hope you had a wonderful Canadian Thanksgiving!

Thank you Amanda!
beautiful pictures, I want to have T-giving with you next year..lol
Thanks Christine! Luckily ours is in October or else it would have looked pretty cold, rainy and grey!
Happy Thanksgiving!!!! You have a such a beautiful family!!! xoxo
Thank you Christine!! I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful:)
Happy Thanksgiving to you! Your table looked fabulous! Of course the view helps too. Your children are so alike they look like twins. Just precious!
We had our big dinner on Saturday with a stuffed salmon as the star since many in the family are vegetarian. I got to spend the day yesterday trying out your chalk paint technique on my dining table. I am really happy with the results and plan to do several more pieces in the house.
Thank you! It was a fabulous holiday- the boys are almost three years apart but there certainly is a strong resemblance:) I would love salmon for Thanksgiving- not a huge fan of turkey and October often has crisp, sunny enough days that a summery fare of salmon would be perfect! So glad to hear that the chalk paint worked out for you… I still have to get my dining chairs finished!!
Love seeing your family!
Thank you Corey!
Great family pictures and lovely decor.
Thank you so much Diana:)
Super cute pictures of you and the family! I saw that great green pumpkin right away -it is awesome!
