Painting Simply White in the Dining Room & Kitchen
If you are considering a white paint then check out how Benjamin Moore Simply White looks in my kitchen and dining room!
Hello friends!
I wanted to pop in today to share a big change that has happened around our place.
I’ve painted!
Again.
So much for keeping up with my plans to not do any major projects while I’m tackling the ten week organizational challenge, right?
So far during this challenge I’ve repainted the laundry room; the linen closet; and now the dining room!
But it’s a project that has been niggling at me for a long while; and I have to tell you that I am super thrilled with how it came out! Doesn’t it feel so bright, fresh and crisp? The colorful art and pillows pop against the bright white!
I used my HomeRight EZ Twist Paint Stick and got this entire space – including the kitchen – completely repainted (including all the trim!) in just one (long) day!
Yay for DIY projects that you can complete in a day!!
And I love how it flows so well now. Although I love blue, I prefer the room now that the white is flowing through naturally from the living room to the dining room to the kitchen. Here is how it looked before and after the change:
I also really prefer the Simply White to our old trim color, which was Cloud White. I carried the Simply White throughout both the dining room and kitchen areas…
I shared the details about this over on the HomeRight blog this morning, so pop over there if you want to check out some more of the details.
Or you can read more about my experience painting with the HomeRight EZ Twist paint stick on my posts about repainting our living room and our main bathroom for the last couple of One Room Challenges.
Things are starting to feel pretty fresh and springy around here; and I can’t wait to add some more spring decor and share some fun spring DIYs and printables with you!!
Do you love something you see here?
Love your blog! I am about to paint. My dining room Simply white, did you do your trim and wall all in the same finish? Not sure if I should do the trim in semi gloss? Thanks.
Hi Erin, I would use the same finish for your walls and trim – going up to semi-gloss for trim isn’t really necessary anymore because of how much more washable satin and eggshell paint is now. We did our old house and our new house both in the same sheen/finish. Hope that helps!
Love your room! I have been looking at chairs similar to the ones in your Dining area. Your link goes to Wayfair, but not to a specific chair. Did you purchase the Gage chair? If so, are they the natural color or gray?
Thanks!
This looks SO good, Krista! Great decision|!
This is beautiful! I love your style! Thanks for sharing this with us at the Home Matters Link Party, hope to see you again next week:) #HomeMattersParty
this looks so refreshed. i am really loving whites lately, and yes, this really flows so much with your space, too.

Two word. Love it. 😀 I just repainted as well. I used a very light gray but white was tempting me for sure. I do love this look. Very Scandinavian but with the added warmth from that gorgeous rug and the colorful artwork. We just finished a kitchen remodel and I was going for a refined coastal look. Now I am moving that feeling into the dining room and I love that rug. Was it a recent purchase? If so, could I ask what it is and where you purchased it? Thanks so much. Visiting via Denise Designed’s linky party.

Hi Pamela! Thanks so much for your kind comments! The rug is from Ikea and was super reasonably priced!! We have a similar style but in a round shape in the adjoining living room -I love the texture and warmth they add!
It’s fabulous!!! Love the crisp white look in your space. Totally evokes a coastal vibe even more!
Love how fresh and clean the white looks. I am a color girl myself, but am becoming more and more open to the idea of having a white room somewhere in my home. I did take the plunge and paint my kitchen cabinets white and couldn’t be happier with it. It’s a project that took forever because it was my first go around with cabinets and I wanted to ensure they looked great. Of course, my kitchen is still a work in progress and it probably will be since there is always some new project I want done in it. Your home is so beautiful, cannot wait for mine to feel it’s as complete as yours is.
Gorgeous! There’s is always something beautiful about white…stunning!
