Welcome to my Fall Home Tour!
Today I’m sharing my fall home tour with some beautiful inspiration for the coming season.
I love Fall Home Tour day!
Actually, I love spring/summer/Christmas home tour day as well.
I just love home tours… stalking people’s living spaces is one of my top 5 favourite things to do.
And the best part of prepping for my own Fall Home Tour, is that for a glorious few hours (or maybe few minutes) after I take my pictures everything in our house looks beautiful.
Perfectly in place.
And I soak it in like a desert cactus after the rain.
Because it won’t last long.
But as least I have the pictures to remember it by.
This week I am part of a group of 15 of my favourite bloggers sharing their Autumn Home Tours – five per day on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday of this week.
We’d love to have you join us on Instagram as well – just share your pictures using the hashtag #Fallintofall and we will be sharing our favourites with our own Instagram followers!
There have been some pretty exciting changes around here in the past few weeks.
Mainly…. the Ektorp from Ikea.
I can’t tell you how giddy I am about this couch. My excitement level definitely passes over the line into downright ridiculous.
I’ve wanted one of these babies since we first shopped at Ikea for a sofa right after our honeymoon! And 14 years later I have finally won this battle!
See – a true testament to the power of determination.
So the Ektorp meant a new seating arrangement with the other chairs… as well as a few changes to the gallery wall behind it. I bought the painting above the sofa from Urban Barn, and added to my collection of A’s with some additional cuties that I found at Home Sense.
The beautiful fabric on that corner cushion is one of my all time faves – I ordered it from Online Fabric Store.
The plaid pillows were made using my DIY envelope pillow tutorial with some gorgeous purple and coral coloured plaid that I got on a huge sale at my local Fabricland. I’m talking 3 yards for $14!. Seriously. It was buy one get two free. Gotta love that…
My thrift store lamp makeover always feels like it fits so perfectly in Fall, because it pretty much resembles all the ceramic pumpkins I have hanging out all over…
I’ve had this rustic little wooden side table for a few seasons now… it’s actually a chunk of wood that my husband had set aside as firewood but I brought it indoors instead. It’s the perfect size to hold my mug of tea.
Ahhh… isn’t she perfect? #ilovemyektorp
My other favourite pillow fabric this season is this Neo Toile in Coral from Tonic Living. I love the colours in it- and I guess it was just absolute serendipity that the coral in it matches perfectly with the coral in the plaid.
The other side of the living room has stayed pretty much the same – aside from a new lamp and some new accessories that I collected at Home Sense. The feature is still my giant DIY sign made from reclaimed wood.
Now let’s head on into the Dining Room (well, it’s really the same room as the living room, but we can call it the dining room anyhow just so it sounds more impressive).
The pew, which was gifted to use by a good friend, is still my favourite feature in this space. It pops so nicely against our DIY board and batten and the series of oil paintings above were collected from thrift stores and garage sales and unified by painting the frames all in white. Plus it has that vintage cool aesthetic!
I’m still working on the idea of building a new table- I would love something longer in order to accomodate more guests for dinner. It’s just that we’ve been a little pre-occupied with ridiculously large renovations this year (like the kitchen and our first investment house and the second investment house)… so we haven’t quite gotten around to building a table.
Maybe soon?
I picked the three colours of tiny mums up from my local floral shop and I love how hardy they are. I know they will last for a few weeks – and since I only buy myself flowers a few times a year, the ‘lasting factor’ is pretty key.
From the dining room you can see our faux mantel (done up in turquoise and coral tones for fall) and then you get a glimpse into our newly renovated kitchen…
Want to see a little more of the kitchen?!

What color is the paint on the living room and dining room walls
Hello Melissa! The light blue colour is called Whispering Spring by Benjamin Moore.
Hey Krista can you tell me what type of paint and colour you used to refinish your octogon teal colour coffee table? Love it, looking for a similar colour and having a tough time. Love all your decorating ideas, beautiful home 🙂
Hi Leah,
I used Aegean Teal by Benjamin Moore in an oil based paint – it’s a gloss finish. I actually used the same paint on our front door and then used it again on the coffee table. The colour one down on the paint chip is called Colorado Gray (and we painted our foyer and hallway that colour). I hope that helps!
Hi, can you tell me where you found the painting displayed right above the couch, I believe there are birds flying. I really am in love with it and it would go perfect in my living room. Can you please share where I can find one?
Hello Sandy – it is from Urban Barn (are you in Canada? It’s a Canadian home decor store). Hope that helps!
Love love love the paint color in your living room! Can you please tell me what it’s called – it’s the perfect aqua shade! Thanks!
Hello Aileen! Funny – I was just thinking about how I should really write a post about the paint colours in our house! The living/dining/kitchen are painted Whispering Spring by Benjamin Moore.
I absolutely love your entire home, but especially the living room, it is so cozy and colorful. One of my accent colors is also turquoise, aqua and blues, so uplifting. Happy New Year.
