Spring Home Tour: Our Spring Entry Hall & Dining Room

Good morning! Welcome to part two of our Spring Home Tour!

I always love home tour days. Especially spring tours. Because it means that it’s spring!

The days are getting longer. The snow is melting away. The sun is starting to peak out again. The grass is greening up. And buds are starting to turn into tiny blooms.

Bringing all of that hope, colour, and seasonal touches indoors is such a treat after a long, dreary winter, don’t you think?

And this week I’ve joined up with an amazing group of fellow Canadian bloggers who are sharing their spring tours all week long {check out the end of this post for more details and the links}.

If you are new here and coming by from one of the other tours this week, then welcome! My name is Krista and I’ve been writing this blog for about four years now. My husband, two sons, and I live on a beautiful fresh-water lake just outside a small town in the middle of Vancouver Island, B.C. and we love our home. In addition to being a busy Mom, housie, DIYer, crafter, organizer, and blogger, I also work four days a week as an elementary school teacher. You can read more about me and this blog here.

Now, enough chat, am I right? Let’s get this tour started!

I shared our spring front porch the other day; it’s only a tiny little space but I always love to change it up for the seasons.

Come on in…

Our entry hall, with the whimsical and thrifty map “wallpaper” is one of my favourite little corners of the house. I kept it simple with some spring flowers, a simple free printable peony quote art, and some DIY yarn Easter eggs.

The other side of our entry hall…

I’m thrilled to have my faux wood LAKE sign back out on display. It reminds me that there are only a few more months until we get to enjoy the lake once again. {You might not believe what I made this sign out of!}  Forsythia are some of my favourite spring blooms because they are the very earliest sign that spring is underway.

From our entry, you walk into our living/dining room space. I shared my spring living room tour the other day.

The living room opens right up onto our dining room…

Our dining room is full of hits of aquas and greens; my very favourite colours. I’ve recently painted the walls all white, as well, and I love how the bright artwork and pillows pop against all the white.

I also shared the free printable happy easter banner that you can see on the board and batten, just the other day…

All of the paintings were thrift store finds and I unified them by painting the frames out in white.

This spring display is one of my favourites; I’m loving the symmetry created by moving these lamps over into this space. The faux peony vase is another fun project that you might not quite believe what I made it with.

And I threw this picture in to show you what life is really like around our house.

It may look all calm and pretty in these pictures; but it is definitely full of life and action. These two keep things hopping – playing hockey in our long hallway is a favourite pastime.

From our dining room, we head into our kitchen; probably my favourite room in the house. I’ll be back soon to share a Spring kitchen tour with you.

  1. Your house is gorgeous.
Did You fix your chalk board? Spring is spelled wrong.

I love the color of your front door. Do you know what it’s called?

    1. Hi Emily! bwahaha did that old picture sneak in there? Yes, I originally took my tour pictures and then had a reader point out that misspelling -so I retook all my porch pictures, but I must have accidentally loaded in a wrong one again and hadn’t noticed! Thank you for pointing it out!

  2. That map wallpaper is one of my favourite things about your home! So gorgeous!! Loving all of the pops of pink amidst your lovely blues!

  3. Oh My Golly! Everything looks stunning. I’ve never ever seen such a beautiful map wall like the one in your entry. And all of your colors are so soft yet vibrant. Beautiful job. I literally loved every picture.

  4. Krista, I love your use of artwork throughout your home. It makes everything so cozy and personalized, while still beautifully curated. You’ve inspired me to start looking for a few pieces to put up on the wall!

Of course, your front entranceway is simply stunning. Love everything you do, lady!

  5. It looks so lovely 🙂 so inspirational. I love the pops of colour everywhere. Laughs about ur boys, mine are under 5 – they love building pillow forts & having swords fights in the house.

  6. I already follow you on Instagram, but found you again through the Spring Home Tour! I am adding you to my blog reader before I forget!

Where is the rug at your front door from, and what is the thickness of it? Our front door lets us have barely half an inch of clearance, and I am always on the lookout for durable thin rugs.

  7. So, so pretty! I love the new white walls and touches of pretty colours. It’s a bit early to do any front porch decorating here (more snow likely on the way), but yours has definitely inspired me. Happy spring!

  8. Your home is so bright and cheery Krista…I just love it! I think my favourite is your feature wall with the thrifted artwork…what a fantastic idea! You’ve got me inspired to look for pieces for my home! Love it.
