“Let it Snow” Christmas Wreath

I will show you how to make this fun Christmas wreath let it snow!

Let it Snow!

We rarely have a white Christmas around here on the coast!

Snow on the west coast generally consists of a bare skiff of wet, soggy flakes that wash away into a mucky, muddy mess within a day or two from the pouring rain that follows it.

How lovely it would be to have a few inches of fresh, white, powdery snow over our lawn in time for Christmas.

Just enough to make everything pretty without making driving difficult.

That’s the dream, right?!

And this year for our Christmas decor, I’m focusing on a creating a cozy but chic cabin/cottage feel with lots of holiday plaids; buffalo check; wood; natural textures; pine boughs; and rustic touches.

I can’t wait to share more of it with you!

But for now… this simple and thrifty DIY Holiday wreath idea is an easy way to add a cute and cheery feel to your Christmas decor this holiday season.

A red plaid wreath with little bottle brush trees and the words let it snow on it.

This month’s Make it Fun FloraCraft challenge was to create a project out of the Make it Fun Holiday E-Book with our own twist.

There are all kinds of super cute Christmas ideas in here; so it was difficult to decide which one to focus on. But I decided to recreate the “Let it Snow” wreath in my own eclectic style.

To make this Let it Snow Holiday Wreath, I used…

The white styrofoam plaid and bottle brust trees for making the wreath.

18″ FloraCraft Make it Fun Foam Wreath Form
Plaid fabric strips (you could probably also use a plaid ribbon)
White Yarn- Baby Braid Fringe Yarn
Bottle Brush Trees
Wood Slice Rounds
Straight Pins
Black Sharpie Marker
Fabric Scissors
Hot Glue Gun

To start, I cut my holiday plaid fabric into strips long enough to fully wrap around the wreath. You could also use a plaid ribbon for this part.

The red plaid fabric laid out with some pins. Then I layered the fabric strips over the wreath, attaching them with straight pins in the back.

Putting the red plaid fabric onto the foam circle.

I covered about 2/3 of the wreath in the plaid fabric; and then wrapped the bottom third with the white fringe yarn. Also I love how the texture of it gives the feel of snow. I was able to tie the yarn to itself around the back to hold it in place.

Attaching the bottle brush trees to the wreath.

Then I glued on the bottle brush trees…. and wrote “Let it Snow” using a black sharpie and some hand lettering on my wood slices (we cut ours ourselves but you can purchase them at craft stores).

Done!

Cute, right?

I love it. Bottle brush trees and all. And it works really well with the cabin chic feel of our Christmas decor this year. I can’t wait to share more of that with you soon!

  2. This is adorable! How did you hang it? It looks like there’s some burlap ribbon at the top but the pic is cut off.

    1. Hello Abby,
I always use magnetic hooks to hang wreaths on our front door (both in and outside). I usually attach twine or ribbon to my wreath and then tie it in a bow at the top to cover the hook. I hope that helps!
