An honest review of our newest piece of furniture: the Cleo Sofa from Eternity Modern
The past few weeks I’ve finally been sharing more details about our new build home, including a fall home tour of our great room space. After publishing that post, I immediately had a few readers email to ask about or comment on the new sofa that we’ve added to our living room. Let me tell you, I wasn’t surprised that you all were curious about it!
I love this new piece and think it’s made a huge difference to our living room. It’s a gorgeous, open, airy rattan framed sofa with a mid-century modern feel. I love the warm but elegant styling that it adds to our living room. AND…it’s honestly really comfortable!
If you haven’t heard of Eternity Modern before, it was founded in Vancouver in 2005 and they specialize in reproductions of classic mid-century modern furniture styles. Unlike many other manufacturers, Eternity Modern does not mass produce the majority of the pieces and your item is often made to order in their privately owned factory before being shipped directly to your home.
This allows Eternity Modern to control the quality of their products as well as to provide buyers with the opportunity to customize their pieces. Most seating pieces are available in several different fabric options which you an order samples of before buying. Because they aren’t mass producing their pieces, Eternity Modern definitely offers quality over quantity yet with very fair and reasonable pricing considering most pieces are made to order.
Decorating is really about creating a feeling in a room by inspiring an emotional reaction to a space, and the Cleo Rattan Sofa perfectly fits with the casual and airy feeling that I’m trying to achieve in our new build home.
To me it lends itself to both mid-century modern and coastal design, with a little farmhouse warmth thrown in because of the wood tones and texture of the light linen cushions. The natural handwoven rattan detailing definitely gives it that beachy feel that I seem to head back to time and time again. Plus, how pretty are these legs?!
I’ve had people ask if I’m worried about the white cushions but I’m not! They have a hidden zipper on them, so if needed they could be removed in order to be dry cleaned or washed.
I also love how the Cleo Rattan Sofa has a solid wood backrest with beautiful cane detailing. This makes it as beautiful from the back as it is from the front. Considering how a sofa will look in an open concept room means taking into account the back of a piece as well as the front and sides of it.
Speaking of those sides, the tall wood and rattan arm detailing makes it beautiful from all angles. I added a few decorative pillows and it’s very comfy and cozy to lean against for relaxing or watching TV.
Perhaps my favourite thing about the tight, upholstered cushion style is that it’s the perfect place for displaying beautiful seasonal pillows! They really pop against the simple and clean lines of the Cleo Rattan Sofa.
What is your favourite part of this sofa?
The floating design? Cane and rattan detailing? Warm colour and finish?
So many things to love about it!
