Friday’s Faves

Hello friends! Happy Friday!

I’m really excited to be away in Vancouver for a huge teaching conference today and tomorrow. We are staying at the beautiful Pan Pacific hotel and it’s such an incredible place! It’s not often that I get to stay in a hotel, so it always feels like a beautiful luxury.

Last weekend I had a chance to pick up a few vintage finds and I’m beyond excited to share them with you! I found an antique dough-style bowl that is now adorning our dining room table. I can’t wait to experiment with ALL the different ways for decorating with it!

I love this beautifully styled moss and floral dough bowl via Style House Interiors on IG…

And this one Via DesertDecor on IG…

How fresh is a dough bowl stuffed with lemons Via Cotton Stem…

And perfect for this time of year is this dough bowl full of winter kale, pumpkins, and pine cones Via Miss Mustard Seed…

I found mine at a store full of rustic and vintage finds in a nearby town. I’ve been looking for a long time as I wanted to find one at a somewhat affordable price. I love the giant antique dough bowls through Pottery Barn.

Much more affordable is this smaller old wood dough bowl at Joss & Main…

Or another smaller version is this dark, rustic beauty through Wayfair…

These ones are a fair bit smaller then the one I found; mine is more along the lines of the size of the one from Pottery Barn, so it’s definitely more of a commitment piece. But I’ve always struggled with what to put on our dining room table and I think I’ve finally found it!

Remember my free fall printable featuring a vintage typewriter?

Well, now I don’t have to fake it anymore! I found a really beautiful vintage typewriter that I’m ridiculously excited about… just working on figuring out where it will be best displayed.

I’ve always loved Lauren’s vintage typewriter at Bless’er House, so I was thrilled to find my own!

Something about this time of year puts me in the mood for change. Maybe it’s because we spend so much more time inside as the weather grows colder and wetter.

I’ve been kind of obsessing about making changes to our entry hall lately. I’ve always loved the amazing theatre chairs in Melissa’s entry hall at Polished Habitat

AND!!! I finally tracked down a vintage theatre chair for ours! Yay!

It’s a single chair, since our entry is much smaller. I wish we had room for a trio of chairs like this space via Mrs. Rollman Blog.  But I’d like to keep a console or entry table in the foyer as well, so one chair it is! And one vintage theatre chair is better then, none, am I right?

The only thing I really love about our current entry hall is the map wallpaper; that is definitely staying. But I found a beautiful antique theatre style chair for this space that I can’t wait to share with you… which means that there is going to be a little bit of musical furniture around here again!

We currently have a console table that looks quite a bit like this…

It’s painted in a light aqua colour, and I might just paint it white and be done with it.

But I’ve been scoping out some other options.

I am almost thinking I’d like the contrast of this more chic style.  Sarah Richardson has used this style in her country homes, and I think they are beautiful. Plus, everything she does is amazing…

But on the other hand I like the cottage-y feel of this console table with drawers

And I’ve also considered just adding a shelf with big corbels from – to create a DIY foyer table like this one Via (but on a smaller scale!)

Or this one via Chris Kaufman

Hmm… what do you think? Which style table do you like the best?

As you can see, I’ve got a long way to go before finalizing my plans for this area!

Did you see something you want to remember?

  1. In the first pic of the dough bowl there is a trailing vine with green balls. Where did you find such a gem?! I’ve been looking online and can’t find anything like it.

  2. Hi Krista, I ‘ve been eyeing a dough bowl at a local shop, so enjoyed looking through your links–and finding what a bargain this local one is! I followed your link to your maps in your entry way–which I love–but when I tried to go back to the DIY map letters post, it was “not secure,” and my computer won’t let me go there. Can you wave a magic wand to make the post secure? (I’m not a blogger so I don’t have a clue!) Thanks. I hope you have a fabulous time in Vancouver!

    1. Hi Marilyn!
I’ve tried and I’ve had a friend try as well and it worked for both of us… not sure why that happened? I know I just switched from http to https (as per Google’s requirement), so maybe that has something to do with it! Sorry to hear about your trouble! Perhaps try this link to it: DIY Map Letters
      Hope that works! Thanks:) Krista

  3. I had to laugh when I read at the bottom of the post ‘Did you see something you want to remember?’ I suddenly realised that i wanted to remember it ALL! There is so much gorgeous eye candy and inspiration on your blog that I never want to forget any of it, and then having got me all revved up you help bring me down to earth with the gentle reminder that ‘Home isn’t built in a day’, just what I need when I’m getting carried away, lol

Love the things you post, keep it up and have a great weekend!

    1. Judi! I feel that way all the time… then I remind myself… there is lots of time to try new things and change it up – I’ll never be “there” because I’ll always have something new I want to try. If I didn’t, it would be boring, right? The point is to enjoy the process, not “reach” the end.
