The other day, when I shared my Kitchen Inspiration and PLANS, I talked about my plans to panel the ceiling in our kitchen and dining room.
Do you love the look of panelled or planked ceilings? In a kitchen?
Would you do it?
I want to hear from YOU! What do you really think?
This is a big decision.
It involves a lot of wood planks. Thousands of little nails. And a ton of overhead painting.
I originally came up with this idea because I want to install these gorgeous new light fixtures over our peninsula. And I want to change out our current pot lights for some slightly smaller more modern ones in addition to changing the position of the pot lights.
All of these changes mean holes in the ceiling. And wouldn’t panelling be the perfect solution to covering all those holes??
So here is a little panelled ceiling inspiration…
And another angle from The Idea Room
And really, people, Sarah can’t possibly be wrong. Am I right?
But still, it is a big commitment. None of the other ceilings in the house are panelled – though I would love if we could add panelling to our vaulted ceiling in the living room – maybe with a big faux beam running down the center. And then what about the halls? The bedrooms? I think it would be fine to just panel some rooms and then perhaps smooth out the ceilings in the other rooms. I am really not a fan of the plastered texture that we have on them now.
Well, would you do it? Or would you just repair your ceilings? Or would you re-drywall the whole thing?
I would love to hear what you think!! Truly….
