Today I’m sharing some simple and thrifty summer mantel decor ideas.
Now that it is officially June it really feels like summer is just around the corner. It’s been such a strange year with being off school due to COVID and we are just now heading back to part-time voluntary schooling for the last few weeks of the school year. There has also been so much going on in the world around us the last week, especially in the US, that has made my heart sad, heavy, and anxious.
Through all of this, I continue to take comfort in my home and my creativity… it helps me feel calm and at peace; and having things tidy and in their place allows me the mental space that I need to digest all of what is going on around us. I still desire for our home to be a haven from the world, and this past week I’ve begun switching things over from spring to summer in our living room. I took out all of my pink spring accents, and stuck with my favourite classic colours of blues and greens. The calm, light, summery feel is balm for the soul, and today I’m sharing my super simple and thrifty summer mantel decor ideas.
Once again, I shopped the house and played around with things I already owned. Choosing classic pieces (like vases) and mixing up the feel of your mantel with free printable art, some vintage finds, and seasonal greenery is all you need. It’s simple, thrifty, and easy to do.
I started this mantel design with this vintage seascape painting and took the rest of the mantel from there. I’ve had this piece for several years now – it was a thrift store or garage sale find that was gifted to me by a good friend. I added some faux summer greenery in vases that I already owned, and used my free printable tropical leaf line drawings on the second asymmetrical shelf. I am really loving the crisp fresh feel of all the white and blue.
Head to this post to learn how to download your own copies of these tropical leaf prints (and I have two more options available as well!).
You can also head to this post to learn how I turned tin cans into simple moss covered vases – and this one I stuffed with a little faux air plant for a summery feel.
Simple, free, light, airy and full of summer.
We all need light and love in our hearts during this time and I know we need calm, peace, and light and love in our world if we are to create the changes that need to come.
Today I’m joined by some of my blogging friends who are also sharing their summer mantel and vignette ideas.
